With Mother's Day right around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to flash back to a very special mother-daughter portrait shoot.
Social media followers of mine will recognize these two. Erica has been a dear friend for years, and I've known her daughter since she was just a couple of days old. We try to get a formal mother-daughter photo at least twice a year, but Lil Bit particularly is always excited to have her picture taken (if she's in the mood, anyway) so both my archive and my phone are full of her photos. But last fall Erica asked me to do a proper portrait session so that she could gift her mother a framed print.
We chose Heath Park as the perfect spot, and we got some really moving photos. Because of our timing and the weather on the day (neither of which we had much choice over) the photos were a bit darker than my usual. Rather than try to fight the light, we leaned in and ended up with a slightly moodier look than we had originally intended. Nobody complained.
How cute are these two?!
We'll probably be doing some spring/summer portraits soon, so watch out for more to come.
